These are two pictures of Rose. On the left, Rose was thin and weighed 9 lbs.  She was withdrawn and did not want to eat. When she opened her mouth, she sometimes yowled and ran away.

On the right, Rose ate happily, weighing in at 12 lbs. This picture was taken after full mouth extractions. Rose was then and continues to be back to her social, in the middle of everything self.

Stomatitis is the name given to this oral condition.  It involves inflammation in the mouth, causing inflammation of the gums and sometimes the back of the mouth. Along with this inflammation, periodontal disease, tooth resorptions and infection in bone can develop.  This is a notoriously painful disease, which underscores the importance of full oral evaluation and care.
